From Saturday evening, August 5th, until Monday morning, August 14th, there will be significant traffic disruption on the south side of Amsterdam. For 8 consecutive days, the A4 and A10 South will be closed from Badhoevedorp interchange to S109 RAI entrance due to construction work at Amsterdam Zuid station.
Construction Work
During this 8-day period, the A10 South will be transformed into a large construction site. At the location of Amsterdam Zuid station, a section of the highway and part of the train tracks will be temporarily removed to slide two massive sections of the roof into place for a second station passage. As a result of these construction activities, the A4 and A10 South towards Utrecht will be closed from Badhoevedorp interchange to S109 RAI entrance.
Detour for Car Traffic
The closure will begin on Saturday, August 5th, at 10:00 PM and end before the morning rush hour on Monday, August 14th. Traffic will be diverted via the A9 and A5 (see the map below). Despite the closure being scheduled during the relatively low-traffic holiday period, motorists should anticipate a significant increase in travel time, possibly up to an hour.
Public Transport
Trains to and from Amsterdam-Zuid station will operate on a limited schedule. However, the metro and bus services will run as usual. Plan your trip beforehand via www.NS.nl or the NS app.
