From Friday evening, September 8th (starting at 10:00 PM) until Monday, September 11th (starting at 5:00 AM), the A10 South in the direction of Schiphol and The Hague will be closed from Amstel interchange to the S108 UMC entrance, near the location of VUmc. The second weekend closure starts on Friday evening, September 22 (from 22:00) and ends on Monday morning, September 25 (at 05:00). These closures are necessary due to large-scale renovation work at Amsterdam Zuid station.
Construction Work
At three different locations, long sheet pile walls will be installed in the ground between the highway and the metro track. These sheet pile walls are needed for excavating the second station passage, which will be located west of the current station passage. During this period, the A10 South towards Schiphol will be closed, but RAI will remain accessible.
Detour
Traffic will be redirected via the A1, A9, and A10 North (see the map below or video). During both weekends, the A10 South in the direction of Hengelo/Utrecht will remain open. Despite reduced commuter traffic, we advise motorists to anticipate significant delays, which could extend up to an hour.
Public Transportation
Amsterdam Zuid station will remain accessible by metro but with a modified schedule. Trains and buses will continue to operate as usual. Plan your journey in advance using the NS app or through www.ns.nl.
