Last week, in addition to the Negenmaandenbeurs, the largest baby event in the Netherlands, the Huishoudbeurs, the event for daily inspiration on home, garden, health, food, and leisure, also took place. On the last day of both events, a donation program was organized. The donation program is an initiative in which the remaining items from exhibitors are collected to donate to social initiatives in Amsterdam and the surrounding area. The collected items are in line with the needs of the connected initiatives. Through these initiatives, the collected items find a second life and a new valuable destination.
Donations to Stichting Babyspullen
Almost all donations from the Negenmaandenbeurs were taken by Stichting Babyspullen. Stichting Babyspullen collects used and new baby items nationwide and makes baby starter kits out of them. They offer these baby starter kits for free through various agencies to (expectant) parents in the Netherlands who are financially struggling. Stichting Babyspullen aims to reduce the effects of poverty on babies and young children. Thanks to the donation program of the Negenmaandenbeurs, Stichting Babyspullen can further expand its mission. The donations from the Negenmaandenbeurs this time consisted of a large quantity of baby food, strollers, baby clothes, wipes, and bibs. It was a wonderful result for Stichting Babyspullen, thanks to the volunteers and interns of the Negenmaandenbeurs!
Proceeds from the Huishoudbeurs
The donation program of the Huishoudbeurs also resulted in a lot of donations of various items. From a remarkable amount of donated Croma bottles to homemade warm sweaters from an exhibitor with a clothing store at the fair, the Huishoudbeurs provided a wide range of donations. All donated items from the Huishoudbeurs will find a grateful new destination with our social initiatives connected to the donation program next week, such as the Voedselbank, Buurtteam Amsterdam Zuid, Leger des Heils, Buurtgebouw Hendrik de Keijser, HVO Querido, and Stichting Sina.
Donation Room RAI Amsterdam
The Donation Room program is an initiative of the RAI which is organized at various events to prevent waste and help local initiatives with products that are useful for them.
