On Thursday 16 June, two events closed their fair with a donation program for social neighbourhood initiatives, the international event for the horticultural sector: the Greentech and the largest real estate fair in the Netherlands: the Provada. Exhibitors were able to donate leftover items in line with the needs of affiliated community initiatives to the donation team. This team, consisting of various volunteers from community center Henrick de Keijser, the ROC of Amsterdam and RAI Amsterdam, has carefully collected all donations, after which they have ensured that it has found a new destination in the Amsterdam region.
The Donation Room team started at the Greentech, where, in addition to a lot of fruit and vegetables, the pleasant amount of donated plants was striking. After that, the fundraising campaign on the Provada continued. The proceeds consisted of a wide variety of donations: from drinks, snacks, plants and fruit to a variety of furniture.
The proceeds? Heart-warming!
On Friday, the salvation army came to collect lots of fruit and vegetables. The fruit went on the soup bus of the salvation army the same evening, where it was distributed to homeless people in Amsterdam. The vegetables and other fresh products were taken to a reception location on the Boelelaan, where Ukrainian refugees are received.
This morning it was the Food Bank that came to load buses full of donations and it was also Jeroen and Haia, two RAI colleagues, who distributed the other donations today in an electric RAI bus nearby at various initiatives.
“Thanks a lot, it's great that you guys are doing this. We are going to make so many people happy with all these donations.” – Joop (left) from The Food Bank in Amsterdam.
