Green Business Club (GBC) Zuidas is an impact organisation with more than 65 participants who focus on concrete results by initiating sustainable projects. GBC Zuidas is an independent foundation and was founded in 2011 by ABN AMRO, ORAM and Zuidas – municipality of Amsterdam. RAI Amsterdam, located in the Zuidas area, is also a participant since 2011.
With the new campaign “Zuidas doe(t) het licht uit”, participants of the GBC Zuidas have the goal to turn off all the lights which aren’t necessary between 11:30 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. They want to achieve this before January 2023. RAI Amsterdam joins this initiative as well. In 2021, 55 CEOs signed an ambition statement to work together on sustainability. Part of this involves turning off the lights. If all companies turn off the lights, it saves one billion kilowatt-hour. By comparison, 350.000 households can be supplied with electricity annually.
