From 13th to 16th September, RAI Amsterdam will host one of the largest events of the year: IBC, the International Broadcasting Convention. This is the world's most important trade show for the media, entertainment, and technology sectors, and we anticipate over 50,000 visitors.
Permits and Pavilion
The construction of the event will commence on Thursday, 5th September, and continue through to 12th September. Dismantling will begin on 16th September and be completed by 18th September. Due to the scale of this event, a pavilion will be installed in the square in front of the RAI, which will be removed following the conclusion of the IBC teardown.
Freight Traffic
To manage the heavy freight traffic efficiently, we will be using the RAI Logistics Management System to schedule large deliveries at specific times. This system allows for a staggered delivery process, thereby minimising traffic congestion in the surrounding area. Additionally, we will utilise an external holding area to further alleviate pressure on the RAI premises.
Parking and Taxis
All suppliers will be directed to our parking facilities, where they can park free of charge. RAI Amsterdam offers ample parking for suppliers, visitors, and others. Given that IBC is an international event, a significant number of attendees will arrive by taxi, resulting in increased taxi traffic. We will ensure that this traffic is managed efficiently to avoid any inconvenience to the local community.
Cycling Route
For the safety of pedestrians and cyclists, the cycle route to and from Beatrix Park across the RAI grounds will be closed from 5th to 19th September. We will aim to minimise this closure and, where possible, reopen the route in the evenings and at night.
Finally, we will intensify cleaning efforts across the RAI area throughout the event period.
Additionally, on the final day of setup, 12th September, and the first day of teardown, 17th September, a team of RAI volunteers will conduct a clean-up operation along the green strip on Wielingenstraat to remove litter.
We understand that a major event of this scale has an impact on the neighbourhood, and we are committed to minimising this as much as possible. Should you have any further questions, please contact us at info@rai.nl. For more information, visit: https://www.rai.nl/en/rai-surroundings/busy-calendar
