RAI Amsterdam and Bereid met Zorg join forces against food waste

Bereid met Zorg and RAI Food & Beverage launch a project to battle food waste.

At large events, it can be challenging to prepare exactly the right amount of food, often leaving surplus ingredients. But what if we stop seeing these valuable resources as waste and start treating them as an opportunity? RAI Amsterdam and Bereid met Zorg are teaming up in a circular project to prevent food waste.

All leftover vegetables, fruit, and other ingredients from events at RAI Amsterdam are given a second life at Bereid met Zorg. They transform these ingredients into new, flavorful products. The first creation is a delicious classic: Banana Bread! And many more tasty treats are on the way, including apple cake, carrot cake, and much more.

Project slogan: Socially Crafted & Circularly Baked

What was once considered waste is now the foundation for new, artisanal products. No waste, only value. Together with Bereid met Zorg, we show that large events are not only vibrant hubs of innovation and connection but can also serve as models for circular and socially responsible entrepreneurship. By working together, we turn waste into value - with respect for our planet and future generations - helping to reduce our ecological footprint.

At Bereid met Zorg, high-quality ready-made meals, meal components, and pastries are produced by and with people who need extra support. These products are made for healthcare and welfare institutions, the hospitality industry, event venues, regular businesses, schools, daycare centers, and companies with an SROI (Social Return on Investment) focus.

Bereid met Zorg excels in cooking, collaboration, participation, training, and guidance - using food as a tool for empowerment. In their professional production kitchens, individuals with support needs work at their own pace under the supervision of experienced professionals. They adjust to a work rhythm, learn teamwork, and discover their abilities. This not only enhances their skills but also boosts their confidence and well-being. Work becomes something to be proud of again.

To further support their personal and professional development, Bereid met Zorg offers training programs, courses, and workshops. The organisation aims to help its employees transition into regular jobs in the labor market - though moving on is encouraged, it is not required. Personal growth and development at one’s own pace are the top priorities.

Bereid met Zorg is committed to building a sustainable and circular food chain. They work with local suppliers, process food surplus, use seasonal products, and implement innovative solutions to reduce waste.

Additionally, Bereid met Zorg will soon launch partnerships with farmers to rescue surplus harvests and transform them into new products. This way, we create a win-win situation for everyone.

No food waste - only reuse where possible and value creation where it matters.
